  • Thirteen teenagers, most between the ages of 12 and 15, and one adult were arrested in Dolgeville after an investigation into trespassing and burglary, village police said.
The teens are accused of breaking into numerous buildings at a local business, causing “excessive” damage to the buildings and furnishings and stealing security cameras, a collection of gemstones and numerous bottles of alcohol, police said.
Some of the teens also are accused of defecating and urinating inside the building, causing additional damage to furnishings and destroying a large screen TV.
The business owner estimates the total cost of the cleanup and replacement of property at more than $42,000, police said.
Police said 11 of the youths were released on family court appearance tickets returnable to the Herkimer County Probation Department on one or more of the following charges: second- or fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawfully dealing with a child, making a false written statement, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree burglary, petit larceny or third-degree criminal trespass.
Two 16-year-olds, whose names also were withheld due to their age, were given tickets returnable to Manheim Town Court. One is charged with third-degree criminal trespass, the other with third-degree criminal trespass, third-degree burglary and petit larceny, police said.
The only adult in the group, 21-year-old Dylan Balderston, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and providing a false written statement.
He was arraigned and also will return to Manheim Town Court at a later date, police said.
