  • Lawrence K. Edgett, Sr., 67, of Salisbury, passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 26, 2013, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
    He was born on Nov. 25, 1946 in Ilion, a son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Farley) Edgett. He was educated at Ilion High School and graduated with the class of 1966.
    Lawrence was united in marriage to Pearl M. Jaquay on April 8, 1967 at St. Josephs Church in Dolgeville, with Rev. Halpin officiating. This past spring the couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
    In recent years, Lawrence was employed by Birnie Bus Service and Dolgeville Central School as a bus driver. He was formerly employed by Quackenbush and Remington Arms in Ilion as a rifle assembler for 20 years until his retirement.
    Lawrence enjoyed hunting, cooking, driving school bus and his computer. He was a lifetime member of the Salisbury Fire Department, an EMT for S & S Ambulance Service, an instructor for CPR, Advanced First Aid and Multi-Media. His most precious time was that spent with his family.
    He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Pearl M. Edgett, at home; beloved son, Lawrence K. Edgett, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Dolgeville; his grandchildren, Anthony Edgett and his wife, Samantha, Sheila Steele and her husband, Dakota, Kiya Edgett and Alexis Edgett; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Elizabeth and Landon; a sister, Ileen Williams and her husband, Mark, of Pennsylvania; several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
    His infant twin sister, Yvonne Edgett, a sister, Janet Evans, and a brother, Donald Edgett, preceded him.
    Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at 7 p.m.
    The Edgett family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Bassett Health Care in Cooperstown and Little Falls Hospital for their compassion and care that was shown to Lawrence during his stay with them.
