  • BOYS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Indians score nine goals in victory

  • LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The West Canada Valley Indians took a while to get the scoring started Monday then beat Little Falls 9-0.
    The match, a make-up from Sept. 12, was scoreless 30 minutes into the first half when Mounties goalkeeper Cole Douglas made a stop on a penalty kick.
    The Indians (5-1-0) then got five goals before halftime, including three scored by Alex Williams.
    Matt Borocsi scored twice for West Canada Valley. Josh Sudakow, Korey Mizener, Tyler Wright and Jacob Gorinshek each chipped in with a goal. Michael Sternberg made two saves.
    Douglas finished with 28 saves for Little Falls (0-4-1).
    The Mounties travel to Springfield Center for Wednesday’s match against Owen D. Young. West Canada Valley takes on Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Wednesday at home.
    CAMDEN, N.Y. — Goalkeeper Austin Perry returned to action fro Herkimer Monday and made 11 saves in the Magicians’ 1-0 shutout of the Camden Blue Devils.
    The match went scoreless into the second half when Zoltan Csonknyay put Herkimer (2-5-1) on the board with 22:07 left to play.
    Andrew Hill matches Perry with 11 saves for the Blue Devils (1-6-0).
    The Magicians play Wednesday at Frankfort-Schuyler.
    BERNE, N.Y. — Trevor Haack made 11 saves Monday in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs’ 3-0 shutout of the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves.
    Nick Nagengast scored two goals for the Bulldogs who led 1-0 at halftime. Tate Repscher tallied the other gaol and Sam Abbott and Jimmy McGill each contributed an assist.
    Nate Trumble had 16 saves for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville.
    The Wolves next play Wednesday in Sharon Springs.
    WATERVILLE, N.Y. — A goal in the second half broke a scoreless tie and gave the Mt. Markham Mustangs a 1-0 win Monday over the Waterville Indians.
    Kris Pontero scored at 12:46 of the second half with an assist from Henry Feist. Mike Gras preserved the win and earned the shutout by making four saves for the Mustangs (3-5-0).
    Logan Fallon stopped three shots for Waterville (3-5-0).
    Mt. Markham meets Poland Thursday on the Marcy campus of SUNYIT.
    DUANESBURG, N.Y. — The Fort Plain Hilltoppers ended a four-match losing streak Monday with their 2-1 victory over winless Duanesburg.
    Fort Plain, now 2-5-0, had not won since beating Canajoharie in its second match of the season.
    Duanesburg is 0-4-2.
    The Hilltoppers play at Schoharie Wednesday.
    CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — The Middleburgh Knights shut Canajoharie out Monday and defeated the Cougars 3-0.
    Nick Righi, Austin Roney and Brody Smith each had one goal for Middleburgh. Austin Smith made two saves in the shutout.

    The Cougars play Wednesday at Duanesburg.
