  • BOYS' SOCCER: CVA holds off Frankfort-Schuyler comeback

    FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Central Valley Academy Thunder built a 5-0 lead Monday on the way to a 6-3 victory over the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights.
    Down five goals in the second half, the Maroon Knights (0-7-1) got three goals from Emrah Ljubijankic and pulled within two with seven minutes left to play.
    Central Valley Academy (2-5-0) countered with a goal 90 seconds later and sealed the win that snapped a five-match losing streak.
    Marshall Sterling, Josh Terry, Dan Lennon, Evan Dunning, Phil Bodwell and Brian Guido each scored one goal for the Thunder. Jacob Bray had two assists and Sterling added one.
    Clay Colburn made one save during the scoreless first half for Central Valley Academy. David Mabbett added two saves.
    Carl DellaPosta, Jerry Pritchard and Noah Lape each had an assist for Frankfort-Schuyler. Jared Vu made 14 saves.
    Frankfort-Schuyler plays at home again Wednesday against Herkimer. Central Valley Academy plays at Camden Thursday.
