ILION, N.Y. — The Central Valley Academy Thunder missed a chance to tie Friday’s game in the fourth quarter and Camden held on to win 35-26 and claim its first victory of the season.
Central Valley Academy led 20-14 at halftime but the Blue Devils took the lead on the extra point following Jeremy Zeitchel’s 21-yard touchdown run. Ryan McCarthy ran 70 yards for a touchdown later in the third quarter and Camden went up 28-20.
Tyler Brown ran for his second touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter but the Thunder was stopped on its two-point try and Camden maintained a two-point lead. McCarthy, who had run for two scores and his on each of his conversion attempts, threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Mitchell to stretch the Blue Devils’ lead to nine.
Mykel Farley ran for two touchdowns for Central Valley Academy.
The Thunder plays at home Friday against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.
