The upstate New York village that’s home to the world’s largest producer of Philadelphia Cream Cheese will try to break the world record for the largest cheesecake.
Local media outlets report that the record-breaking attempt will be the highlight of this Saturday’s annual Cream Cheese Festival in the Lewis County village of Lowville, 60 miles northeast of Syracuse.
Lowville is home to a Kraft Foods plant that’s the largest creamery producing Philadelphia Cream Cheese. A team led by celebrity chef Duff Goldman of Baltimore’s Charm City Cakes will attempt to make a 6,000-pound cheesecake.
The current Guinness World Record for largest cheesecake is 4,700 pounds, held by Philadelphia Kraft Foods in Mexico.
The upstate team’s big cake will be about 8 feet in diameter and 20 inches thick.
