  • GIRLS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Little Falls rallies to beat West Canada Valley

  • LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties trailed by a goal at halftime Friday and came from behind to beat the West Canada Valley Indians 3-2.
    West Canada Valley led 1-0 at the intermission on Joelle Ceneviva’s Shania McEvoy-assisted goal.
    Sarah Bruins tied the scored with an unassisted goal in the second half then gave Little Falls a 2-1 lead when she headed home a goal off Maria Morotti’s deflection of a Nicole Foti cross.
    The Indians pulled even at 2 when Taylor Zaino scored with another assist from McEvoy.
    A handball call inside the box against West Canada Valley’s defense gave the Mounties a penalty kick with seven minutes left to play. Morotti took the kick and delivered the winning goals for Little Falls.
    Cheyenne Rivenburg made 12 saves for Little Falls while Olivia Bolton had 10 for West Canada Valley.
    West Canada Valley is home Tuesday for a match with Cooperstown while Little Falls has a night match at Frankfort-Schuyler.
    MT. MARKHAM 2, WESTMORELAND 0
    WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — Hannah Barrett scored a pair of goals before halftime for Mt. Markham Friday in the Mustangs’ 2-0 win over the Westmoreland Bulldogs.
    Mckenzie Hommer assisted on one of the goals Barrett scored and Machaela Carnegie made four saves in the shutout. The Mustangs had a 10-4 edge in shots.
    Valerie Spencer made four saves for Westmoreland.
    Mt. Markham plays at home Thursday against Morrisville-Eaton.
    CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 5, HOLLAND PATENT 1
    MOHAWK, N.Y. — Teigha Ward scored two goals and assisted on the other three in the Central Valley Academy Thunder’s 5-1 win over the Holland Patent Golden Knights Friday.
    Rachael Thorpe, Nicole Wren and Sophie Millar were the other goal-scorers for Central Valley Academy and Nicole Doolen had an assist. Goalies Alicia Ceneviva and Taylor Moquin each made four saves.
    Shannon Harrison scored for Holland Patent with an assist from Riley Reinold. Nikki Lupia-Eannace made 14 saves.
    The Thunder travels to Boonville Tuesday to take on Adirondack.
    HERKIMER 4, COOPERSTOWN 0
    EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians scored four goals in the second half Friday to break away from a scoreless halftime tie in their 4-0 win over the Cooperstown Hawkeyes.
    McKenzie Pine scored first for Herkimer with an assist from Caitlyn Roorda. Hannah DeLude followed with a goal assisted by Pine and Roorda added two unassisted goals late in the match.
    Chelsea Jory made nine saves in the shutout while Katie Kleban had 10 for Cooperstown.
    The Magicians play in Dolgeville Tuesday.
    POLAND 11, OWEN D. YOUNG 1
    POLAND, N.Y. — The Poland Tornadoes got hat tricks from Paige Sullivan and Mikayla Blumenstock in Friday’s 11-1 win over the Owen D. Young Wildcats.
    Page 2 of 2 - Blumenstock also had an assist as she and Sullivan each scored three goals. Tara Seigle added two goals and an assist. Hannah Jolls and Miranda Robson each scored a goal while Shiane Irwin, Saige Hampston and Elise Hazzard were credited with assists.
    Goalkeeper Courtney Green made two saves for Poland.
    Emma Peters scored for the Wildcats while Sara Manning (15) and Victoria Treadwell (12) combined for 27 saves.
    The Tornadoes play Tuesday at Oriskany.
    CANAJOHARIE 4, OPPENHEIM-EPHRATAH-ST. JOHNSVILLE 1
    CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — Jenelle Dillenbeck scored all four goals for Canajoharie Friday in the Cougars’ 4-1 win over the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves.
    Lauren Balfe and Jordyn Logan each contributed an assist for the Cougars and Andrea Dingman made two saves.
    Leann Clark made six saves for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville and Addie Brundage scored in the second half.
    The Wolves play at home Monday against Duanesburg.
