  • Christmas could come early for area country fans.
Trace Adkins, country giant and the most recently crowned Celebrity Apprentice, will perform at the Stanley Center for the Arts at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 as part of his upcoming Christmas Show tour.
“We’re very excited about having Trace Adkins here,” said Executive Director Jerry Kraus after donning a black cowboy hat at the beginning of the Monday announcement.
The show is a joint fundraiser for the theater and Valley Health Services in Herkimer, a not-for-profit long-term care and short-term rehabilitation center o that has worked with the Stanley five other times to bring big names to the stage, including Gladys Knight, Tony Bennett and Marvin Hamlisch.
“It was time,” said Kathy Eisenhut, assistant administrator for Valley Health Services, about bringing in a country act. “We sat down with the Stanley and Trace Adkins was on the top of our list. We hadn’t had a country name before, and we know there’s a big country following in our area.”
The Utica stop is the only Upstate New York tour date, and the second New York performance during his Christmas Show tour — the other venue hosting in the state is in Westbury on Long Island. Adkins is also releasing a CD of Celtic-influenced Christmas tunes this holiday season.
Tickets for the concert went on sale Friday at the Stanley’s box office. Prices range from $25 to $65 plus fees, and VIP tickets with a dinner at the neighboring Swifty’s Pub will also be available.
