ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — Liam Rice tallied five times Monday and the Saratoga Catholic Saints broke away from a halftime tie to defeat Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville’s Wolves 6-3 in Western Athletic Conference play.
The teams were tied at 2 at the end of the first half before Saratoga Catholic outscored its hosts 4-1 in the second.
Nicholas Cavorta scored the other goal for the Saints and keeper Joe Schmidt made five saves.
Triston Engle and Andrew Hart each scored a goal for the Wolves who were also the beneficiaries of an own goal scored by Saratoga Catholic. Johnny Vicciarelli and Devan Battisti each contributed an assist and Nate Trumble made eight saves.
The Wolves play under the lights Wednesday at Canajoharie.
