  • Larry "Whiskey" M. DeAngelo, 69, of Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, Sept. 5, 2013, at his home.
    He was born on Jan. 2, 1944, in Little Falls, a son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Denapole) DeAngelo. Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force in October 1962 in the Vietnam War era. He served as a small arms expert, receiving the Small Arms Expert Markmanship Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. Larry was honorably discharged in July 1964.
    Larry was formerly employed by Marcy Psych Center, Marcy, and retired several years ago. Recently, he worked for Pathstone Opportunity for Seniors at Catholic Charities of Johnstown.
    Larry enjoyed motorcycling, boating, fishing and supporting charities. He was most well-known for his friendships within his motorcycling passion. Larry's most precious time was that spent with his friends who were his family. He also enjoyed his three canine companions, Baby, Schyler and Toughie.
    He is survived by a sister, Marianne Gilmore, of Clinton; a brother, Louis DeAngelo, of Clinton; several nephews; a niece; and his many, many dear friends in the Mohawk Valley and Johnstown area.
    Due to family circumstances, the funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
    Larry's friends will hold a motorcycle ride in his memory at a time to be announced.
