  • BOYS' SOCCCER ROUNDUP: Panthers top Wolves

  • MAYFIELD, N.Y. — The Mayfield Panthers broke away from a halftime tie and defeated Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville 3-1 Wednesday.
    Todd Briggs scored two goals and assisted on the third scored by Jack Albertion for the Panthers. Lucas VanNostrand made six saves.
    Triston Engle netted a goal for the Wolves in the first half and goalkeeper Nate Trumble recorded 10 saves.
    The Wolves are home Monday for a match against Saratoga Catholic.
    GALWAY 2
    FORT PLAIN 0
    FORT PLAIN, N.Y. — Two second-half goals gave Galway’s Golden Eagles a 2-0 win Wednesday over Fort Plain’s Hilltoppers.
    Travis Longworth broke the scoreless tie with his goal six minutes into the second half and Casey Mello added a goal a short time later.
    Robbie Baron made three saves in the shutout for Galway while James May had seven for Fort Plain.
    The Hilltoppers are home Friday for a match against Canajoharie.

    CANAJOHARIE 1
    CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — The Northville Falcons tallied two goals in the first half Wednesday and defeated Canajoharie 3-1.
    Don Reidell, Wolfe Reinke and Will Wilson each had a goal for Northville and Tim Monette made four saves.
    Logan Sala scored on a penalty kick for Canajoharie which got 17 saves from Zachary Young.
    The Cougars play on the road Friday at Fort Plain.
