FRANKFORT — The Herkimer County Fair’s diesel and modified gas truck pull took place on Aug. 17. Street legal took place on Aug. 19.

The Best Looking Modified Truck Trophy went to Robb Matthews from Rome, with his truck called Beaver Express.
The Diesel Work Stock truck pull first place winner was Daniel Donahoe from Rome with 332.35, second place went to Charlie Hudyneia of Fort Plain with 323.46 and Larry Mondore of Deansboro, with 322.70, took third place.
The Diesel 2.6 Turbo first place winner was Zack Newton from Georgetown, with a pull of 311.90. Second place went to Fred Frederick from Fort Plain, with a pull of 280.16 and third place went to Ryan Macek of Fultonville, with a pull of 278.29.
The Diesel “Run What Ya Brung” first place winner was Jason Gilchrist from Henderson with a pull of 293.36. Second place went to Derek Price of Lebanon with a pull of 247.04. Third place went to Ethan Mondore of Deansboro with a pull of 243.78.
Gas Modified first place went to Bob Donnelly of Richfield Springs with a pull of 291.57. Second place went to Scott Ubner from Fly Creek with a pull of 285.61 and third place went to Mike Matthews of Rome with a pull of 282.66.
Sunday night truck pulls consisted of two classes: 6,800 street legal and enhanced street legal. There was another street legal and enhanced street legal class added, so there were a total of four classes.
The street legal truck pull first place winner was Rich Meyers of Palatine Bridge with 318.42; second place, Craig Dodge of Schuyler with 317.41, and third place, Ellen Sullivan of Port Leyden with 312.79.
The enhanced street legal first place winner was Chris Rice from Walton with a pull of 296.19; second place, Debbie Bennett from Richfield Springs with a pull of 280.72; and third place, John Sullivan of Port Leyden with a pull 275.13.
The additional class of street legal first place winner was Rich Meyers from Palatine Bridge with a pull of 282.50; second place, John Sullivan of Port Leyden with a pull of 272.23; third place, Tony Crews of Little Falls with a pull of 264.42.
The additional class of enhanced street legal first place went to Chris Rice of Walton with a pull of 326.54; second place, Joey Marriott from Richfield Springs with a pull of 324.08. There were only two trucks in this class.
Kathy Ostrander served as superintendent of the truck pull. While the Herkimer County Fair tried a new format, it will be reverting to the prior rules and methods used for truck pulls next year.
