  • Edna M. Doxtader, 88, of Dolgeville, passed away on Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2013, at Little Falls Hospital.

  • Edna M. Doxtader, 88, of Dolgeville, passed away on Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2013, at Little Falls Hospital.
    She was born on Jan. 17, 1925, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Burton and Louise (Eisentrout) McGowan. She was educated at St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls. Edna was of the Catholic faith.
    On Feb. 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth S. Doxtader at St. Mary's Church. They shared a blessed union of 25 years until his passing on July 2, 1972.
    Edna spent most of her life as a mother and homemaker in Dolgeville, raising her eight children. In her later years, she worked for Daniel Green Shoe Company where she retired from in 1985.
    She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles and collecting porcelain dolls. Her most precious time was that spent with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for which Edna will be greatly missed.
    Edna is survived by her children, Maryann Madison, of Dolgeville, Elizabeth (Betty) Congdon and her husband, Raymond, of Little Falls, Richard Doxtader, of Dolgeville, James Doxtader and his wife, Margaret, of Dolgeville, and John Doxtader, of Dolgeville; a sister, Joan Congdon and her husband, Donald, of Little Falls; a brother, Robert McGowan and his wife, Nancy, of Little Falls; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She was predeceased by her children, Ronald Doxtader, Donna Doxtader and Jane Aney; sons-in-law, Donald Aney and Milford Madison; a grandson, Kevin Doxtader; four brothers and two sisters.
    A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Dolgeville Cemetery with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.
    Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville.
    The Doxtader family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on the third floor at Little Falls Hospital for their kind and compassionate care that was shown to Edna and their family during her stay.
