  • Drunken boating is believed to have caused a boating crash in Old Forge this weekend that sent two people to the hospital, the town of Webb Police Department said.
Janelle Nixon, 24, of Middletown, was operating recklessly in the area of Soper Point on First Lake at about 5 p.m. Saturday when she ran on top of another boat operated by James Foley, of Old Forge, police said.
Foley’s boat filled with water and needed to be bailed out by neighbors and other boaters, police said.
Foley and his wife, Judith, were seriously injured in the crash and were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for treatment, police said.
Nixon was charged with reckless operation of a vessel, boating while intoxicated and operating a vessel with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.
Additional charges may be pending, police said.
The Old Forge Fire Department assisted at the scene.
