HERKIMER, N.Y. — Sophomore Derek Newman scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his season debut for Herkimer and the Magicians defeated the Owen D. Young Wildcats 68-51 at home Monday.The Magicians broke the game open in the second quarter when Newman scored nine points and they outscored the Wildcats 22-8 as a team. The Herkimer lead reached 20 points early in the fourth quarter and Owen D. Young was unable to get closer than 13 after that.
